Detox

What is a detox?

Simply put, detox (short for detoxification) is the process of neutralizing or eliminating toxins from the body. It DOES NOT MEAN a juice cleanse, or starvation diet, or drinking lemon water with cayenne pepper.  A detox is where YOU choose to go through a process to rid your body of TOXINS that are harmful to your everyday functions.

Whole foods offer GREAT benefits of detoxing (reversing diet damage, inflammation and providing antioxidants to prevent further damage), plus they provide you with a healthy diet you can maintain for a longer amount of time than when juicing.

Detox diets have become very popular as a way to jump-start a weight loss plan or to cleanse the colon as part of a body-wide targeted detox regimen. One way to determine if you might benefit from a detox diet is if you have a daily bowel movement. If you don’t, a detox diet can help to re-establish regularity.
In today’s world, we are bombarded with more chemicals than ever. It’s been estimated that there are 80,000 chemicals in our environment, not including the toxins we make inside of us from stress, inflammation, or dysbiosis (gut microflora imbalance). The fact is that we aren’t all created equal when it comes to being in balance and healthy.

By consuming a detox diet based on whole foods, you consume the insoluble and soluble fiber needed. You won’t be hungry on a whole foods diet, unlike liquid-only detox diets.

Always get medical clearance if you have any serious medical issues before trying any kind of detox diet.
